Wind forecast for Mallorca & the Balearics
Mallorca and the other Balearic islands see mostly gentle summer sailing, driven by sea breezes that blow into the big bays in the afternoon. The exceptions come from the north: the Tramontana and the tail of the Mistral can build a big sea in the channel between Mallorca and Menorca and pile it onto the north coasts.
In summer the south and east coasts have calas sheltered from northerlies; in a southerly, move round to the north side or into a harbour.

Local winds
Embat (sea breeze) from SW
The Balearic summer sea breeze, blowing onshore into the big bays from late morning, typically force 3–4, and dying at dusk. Anchorages open to it get a chop in the afternoon and settle at night.
Tramontana from N
Cold northerly off the Pyrenees and the Gulf of Lion that reaches Menorca and northern Mallorca, most often in winter and spring. Makes the north coast of the islands a lee shore.
Mistral from NW
Cold north-westerly funnelled down the Rhône valley into the Gulf of Lion. It can blow force 7–9 for several days under blue skies, with a short, steep sea. Strongest west of Toulon and through the Strait of Bonifacio.
